The July 2026 Hugging Face OpenAI Security Incident illustrates the future of Agentic AI in Cyber Offense and Defense.  Hugging Face detected an intrusion into its production infrastructure by autonomous agents, but the attacker’s identity was unknown.  OpenAI realized its agents were the attackers only after the incident concluded.  Hugging Face’s own response also relied on support from a Large Language Model.
